Emotion Stays in Our Mind

Dear OMT,

When you watch the ‘This is Me’ song in The Greatest Showman movie on May 29th 2023, you asked me whether the bearded lady and her friends are afraid to enter a room full with rich people. I said, “Yes, they are. Not only afraid, but also they feel sad, down, disappointed, embarrassed, low self-esteem, and other destructive emotion. But they fight it with singing and saying this:

When the sharpest words wanna cut me down

I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown ’em out

I am brave, I am bruised

I am who I’m meant to be, this is me

Look out ’cause here I come

And I’m marching on to the beat I drum

I’m not scared to be seen

I make no apologies,

This is me

When they sing that lyric, you said, “Now they are not afraid and sad anymore, don’t they?” I replied while touching your forehead, “No. They are still scared, sad, and disappointed. Look at their face. Can’t you see that they are scared? All that feeling will always be here. It’s only up to you to take what action you will. You can sit down with your head down, cry all day, and let all that destructive emotion embraces you. Or you can stand up, fight it, and do whatever you should do towards your goal, like the bearded lady there and all her friends.”

I just want to remind you, when you feel sad, down, and it seems that there is no way out, fight it. Do whatever you need to do towards your goal. Don’t let fairy emo distracts you. I know you can. Remember when you are in your grandma’s house, you are afraid of a kitchen window at night? I asked you to fight your fear and carried you up closer to the window and see through. All your fear is gone.

Dear ECT,

I see that you tend to ignore any strong emotion in you. But who can say? You are still 5 years old now. I never see that you are afraid of the dark, or sad when your friends or sister don’t do what you want. You smile and seems to be happy most of the time. I don’t say that it’s all good. You need all that emotion to boost your action.

I want you to understand what message I give to your sister about the ‘This is Me’ Song. Because I am sure one day, no matter how ignorant you are, you will go through some moment that you feel important, and when it doesn’t go as you want, you will catch all that destructive emotion in you. Remember to fight it even though you manage to pass through the moment, all that emotion is still in your head at the moment you catch it, during the fighting process, and the moment you have passed it. You may not feel it. But it is always there.

My point is: Always take action towards your goal, no matter how hard fairy emo tries to distract you.
