- Productive: Spending your time in doing something that is more likely to build something bigger for the future.
- Busy: Spending your time in doing a lot of thing that is less likely useful for the future.
- Lazy: Spending your time by doing a little thing that has positive impacts for the future.
Be More Productive Than Busy.
Remember that every month I have to work out of town? I can drive there which is faster and actually is comfortable enough and time convenient. But most of the time, I choose to ride a train. I have time to think and write all these thing for you both. For me, it’s productive. Because I spent my time to get myself out of town and write, which I couldn’t do it if I drove.
Whether you are productive, busy, or lazy, you are spending your time. And time is the most precious resources you can have. It’s like you are given 24 hours whenever the clock strike 00:00 to spend it as you wish. No matter being productive, busy, or lazy, it keeps decreasing until 23:59:59 on that day. Some people use time to be productive, some purposely spend it to be busy because they feel that they are more comfortable for the time being. And ignorant people spend it to be lazy.
Q: Watching TV all day.
My Opinion: if you can use the information from tv for a better you in the future, it’s productive. If it is for entertainment purpose only, you are busy.
Q: Working day and night everyday.
My Opinion: If it is day to day job and doing the same thing everyday, you are busy. If it is for something bigger and you have to do it first to get the next level job tomorrow, you are productive.
Q: Playing or having fun all day.
My Opinion: If you are stressed recently and need to release it, you are productive. If you are having fun everyday and you are doing it because you like it, you are busy.
In short: Create a goal which is always the next level of you. Being productive means you are doing everything to get to your goal faster and progressive everyday. Being Busy means you are doing a lot of thing which may make you tired and slow progress towards your goal.
Some people choose to be busy because they feel comfortable doing it. Everyone needs money for money expenses. One of my friend choose to be an online driver to earn money for almost 3 years. One day, he told me that his monthly revenue is not enough to cover all the expenses he needs even though he slept only 3 hours daily and spend his time mostly on the road to get more client. I didn’t know how he spend his time on the road. Was he playing mobile game? Hang out with his friends? Or how did he do to get more customers. When I suggested him to get another promising jobs which was actually more choices than he knew, he said that he loves being online driver because he felt more comfortable and more fun doing it. In short, he felt hardworking enough everyday to pay the bills but he was just unlucky. It’s our choice to work harder or more painfully but being productive for better future, or working comfortably but it is just busy.
